MONITORING AND INDICATORS

The objective of this section is to facilitate the work of aligning the monitoring of country programmes and sector support programmes with the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), national development strategies (such as PRS - Poverty Reduction Strategies), and national sector policies.

The documents presented on the site are meant to assist both the Danish representations (whose responsibility it is to prepare new programmes, including their monitoring systems) and those consultants and others who get involved in setting up or assessing monitoring systems and indicators.

Use of this site:

Following the logic as presented in the left column, the reader will be offered:

An introduction to the issue of monitoring and indicators in the context of the MDGs and PRSPs
A presentation of the international consensus that has emerged over the past few years on the issue of aligning programme monitoring
A number of brief technical papers on the issue of monitoring and indicators in Danish bilateral aid – one on general issues across sectors and a number on individual sectors and thematic areas
Advice on how each of the relevant Danish representations can work with monitoring and indicators.
