TRACKING VULNERABILITIES OF CORRUPTION AT THE SECTOR LEVEL IN VIETNAM – A NEW CASE STUDY
Implementation Assessment of the Anti-Corruption Law: How far has Vietnam come at the Sector Level? A Case-Study of the Construction Sector
Global efforts to track vulnerabilities of corruption at the sector level are gradually emerging. Vietnam is no exception in this regard and the country has made commendable efforts to identify sector-specific challenges. Yet, Vietnam is struggling to make its anti-corruption policy operational at the sector level according to a recent case study of the construction sector. While the legal framework for curbing corruption is sound and comprehensive, implementation and enforcement of the Anti-Corruption Law remain a challenge. The study examined inspection & detection of corruption, asset declaration of public servants, transparency in procurement and the role of the media in curbing corruption in the construction sector.
The study was undertaken and led by the Technical Advisory Services on behalf of the Danish embassy in Vietnam, in cooperation with the World Bank in Vietnam.
