Danida Technical Issue Notes on DisabilityDanida has worked with the inclusion of disability aspects in development since the late 1980s. Efforts tie in with existing international conventions and strong Danish engagement in the development of an international convention on the rights of persons with disabilities. In 2000 the Nordic countries issued a communiqué on disability in development committing the Nordic countries to address disability issues at policy level in bilateral and multilateral development co-operation and to collate experience on lessons learned. The technical issue notes below provide good practice case stories from Danida supported activities, links to good practice papers by other agencies, an overview of relevant Danish policies, links to international conventions and declarations and to other relevant resources.
More information on disability is available from the Disabled Peoples Organizations Denmark (DPOD) - the national NGO-umbrella -on www.disability.dk. DFID has written a DFID Practice Paper which has a wealth of good notes on DFID's work on Disability and Development. It is called ”How to note: Working on Disability in Country Programmes October 2007”. The document can be found on the web: www.dfid.gov.uk/pubs/files/DisguideDFID.pdf
